When deciding what kind of house sign to purchase, there are many different varieties of materials that can be selected, but one stands out above all others.  That material is…. Slate.

So, why would you want to choose slate over any other material for your house sign?  This is a question that I have been asked countless times before, and please read on to see just why you should.

Slate is a great material, and it can be found in different qualities according to your requirements.  It has its drawbacks, just like nearly everything else in life does; however, it also has a whole host of benefits too, some of which include:

  • Durability – In comparison to materials such as wood or tile, slate is extremely durable and requires a whole lot less maintenance to look good.  On top of this, slate also lasts a lot longer in almost any condition it could potentially face.
  • Resistance – Not only will good quality slate be resistant to any weather condition it may face, it will also be naturally slip and stain resistant.  Not only this, it is also resistant to fire and water, and to make things even simpler, it remains little to no maintenance meaning that when you are sprucing things up, the sign won’t need to be one of them.
  • Catches the eye – Slate is one of the more ‘beautiful’ materials around, and because of this it will make your house sign aesthetically pleasing, and it will stand out to anybody deciding to take a look.  It also makes things look more modern.  You will notice that more and more householders and now choosing slate signs, and it is becoming something of a ‘fashion’ now to have this on your house.

Of course there are more benefits, and there will be a few drawbacks, both of which you can research further yourself online, however I am sure that you will find there are way more benefits that far outweigh the drawbacks.

Information on slate house signs and slate in general, can be found online by using a reputable search engine, or indeed at a local trade centre / home improvement store.
